Carbon fiber-filled PEEK

Carbon fiber-filled PEEK is a composite material that combines the high-performance plastic PEEK with carbon fibers to enhance its mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties. This combination results in a modified PEEK that is much stronger, stiffer, and lighter than standard unfilled PEEK grades.
Carbon fiber-filled PEEK is reinforced with short or long carbon fibers, typically in concentrations between 10% to 30% by weight, with 30% being the most common and widely used. The fibers are distributed throughout the PEEK matrix which greatly enhances its mechanical properties.
Compared to unfilled peek, carbon fiber-filled PEEK has several enhanced properties.
- Increased Strength and Stiffness
- Improved Dimensional Stability
- Superior Thermal Properties
- Enhanced Wear Resistance
- Lower Weight and High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
- Improved Chemical And Corrosion Resistance
Common applications include:
- Oil & Gas: seals, valves, washers
- Medical Devices
- Electronics
- Aerospace: Various structural components
